Coronary heart disease usually is affected by some dysfunction of the heart which in turn develops into fatal heart attacks. There are many factors that cause coronary heart disease. Some are due to birth defects where very little can be done, unless it is found out before the baby is born. In this case some corrective measures can be done on the fetus itself.

Some coronary heart diseases are due to use of drugs; some are the result of alcohol abuse while yet some others are due to chromosomal abnormalities. Viral attacks also have been known to cause coronary heart disease when the mother contacts it in the early stages of pregnancy. In adulthood coronary heart disease can be caused by damage caused to the heart by high blood pressure, kidney disease, diabetes, and thyroid disease when these occur alone or in any type of combination.

Early diagnosis is the best thing that can happen for effective treatment of any coronary heart disease. In order to control the disease and prevent heart attacks, it is critical to diagnose it in its early stages. This can happen only when there are periodic check ups specifically seeking out the development of the disease. If you have a family history of heart disease, it would be good to run routine tests every two to three years in order to diagnose the disease at the earliest possible.

When it is diagnosed, there is no need to panic. People can lead normal lives if they take care of their diet, exercise regularly and take their medication as prescribed by the doctor. It is very important when you are diagnosed with heart disease to stop smoking if you are and reduce or totally eliminate the intake of alcohol. You should also be very careful that you do not allow high levels of LDL cholesterol to develop since this leads to atherosclerosis, a leading cause for heart attacks and strokes.

In other words, you can lead a quality life free of any immediate danger, if you ensure that you take all the precautions necessary not to aggravate the coronary heart disease.
